Summit Sisters MT: Women’s Mountain Bike Festival

Just imagine soaking in awe-inspiring lake and mountain views while camping, mountain biking, receiving skills coaching, indulging in catered dinners, and connecting with a group of amazing women— we’ve planned an incredible women’s weekend of nature play at Lake Como in the Bitterroot National Forest. Situated just outside Darby, Montana, Lake Como is one of the most breathtakingly beautiful spots in Western Montana to spend a spring weekend at a women’s mountain bike retreat.

Event Happenings

Guided Trail Rides: Explore trails led by local guides, tailored for all skill levels from seasoned beginners who have at least one riding season under their belt to advanced riders. Check out our mountain biking skills riding survey to see where you fit.

Skills Clinics: Elevate your riding prowess with 2hr group skills sessions with our expert group of certified women coaches on Saturday and Sunday .

Catered Dinners: What’s better than coming off the trail with dinner made and waiting? We’ve got you covered for dinners on Friday and Saturday.

Giving Back: Engage in trail work with Bitterroot Backcountry Cyclists and learn more about trail advocacy from inspirational women in the sport.

Ways to Play: Enjoy morning yoga sessions with Aspen Leaf Yoga, campfire sing-alongs, dance parties, and time to explore and play on the lake on your favorite watercraft.

Community Bonding: Connect with fellow riders and campers, share stories, workshop limiting mindsets, and forge lifelong friendships amidst the calming beauty of western Montana.

Event Details

  • Who: identifying women and non-binary people. No dogs. No women under 16.
  • Date: Friday, May 10th through Sunday, May 12th 2024
  • Location: Three Sisters Group Campsite at Lake Como in the Bitterroot National Forest outside of Darby, MT.
  • Registration: We a limited number of spots available. Secure your spot now!
  • What’s included in the price: dinner Friday and Saturday nights, camping and permit, coaching, yoga, and dance party. A portion of the proceeds goes to: our event partner, MT Alpha Cycling who is dedicated to getting more identifying women, girls, and non-binary people on bikes, Bitterroot Backcountry Cyclists who help build and maintain trails at Lake Como, and MTB Missoula’s Youth Mountain Bike Library working to get underserved youth on mtn bikes and trails.
  • What’s not included in the price: breakfast, lunch, ride snacks, alcohol. You must bring your own camping supplies.
  • NOTE: There is NO cell phone service at the campsite. Cell phone service is spotty when on the trails.
  • Cost: $300
  • Trails: 30+ miles

What to Bring

  • Breakfasts, Lunches and snacks (plus their containers for eating on the trail). NOTE: Dinner with desserts is provided.
  • Electrolytes so you can ride each day feeling recovered. (ie: nuun)
  • Mugs and water bottles for camp time
  • BYOB – Bring your own alcohol or mocktail of choice
  • WORK GLOVES and CLOTHES for Trail Work. We are going to be good trail stewards and work on the trails with Bitterroot Backcountry Cyclists on Saturday.
  • Yoga mat

Biking list:

  • Need a bike? Spotted Dog Cycles  is ready to lend us some.
  • Food –bring lunch for the trail plus any trail side snacks 
  • Hydration bladder/ or 2 large water bottles
  • Riding pack
  • Typical trail side repair tools such as spare tube, bike specific spare parts (if renting, part of bike rental)
  • Riding clothes: Helmet (part of Spotted Dog Cycles bike rental), socks, shirt/jersey, chamois, shorts, bike gloves, bike shoes, socks, sun glasses
  • Sun block
  • Rain jacket
  • Layers: long sleeve shirt, light windbreaker, riding pants, long socks
  • Pads if you use them

  • Flotation toys for the lake!
  • Camping chair
  • Head lamp
  • Clothes, shoes
  • Down jacket, hat, mittens, warm boots and pants.
  • Sleeping bag, pillow, sleeping pad
  • Tent or vehicle camping. Sorry, there’s not room for multiple trailers. We only have space for 20 tents so bunking with others is a great option. Reach out if you need a place to sleep.
  • Plate, utensils, stoves, any tools you need to make your breakfasts and lunch.
  • Containers to hold your food.
  • FOOD for breakfasts and lunches
  • Coolers
  • Containers for water. There is no water at the group site. Water is at the main campground.

  • Dish Washing Center with tubs of soapy water and towels.
